Esperanza Rising

My bookshare is about Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan. The book is about a girl named Esperanza, she is a rich girl who lives in Mexico, in the state of Aguascalientes, with her father and mother. At one point in the book she and her mother get so worried about their father about him getting home late. Sooner they found out that he passed away. Esperanza and her family have to go through a lot, her mean uncle, whom she really hated, wanted to marry Esperanza's mother for her money. Her mother refuses. Their house gets burned down so they lose all their stuff. So for that they flee to California. It doesn't go to well for Esperanza because she can't get use to being homeless. All her life she has been a rich girl. Now she has to work so hard almost like a slave. For example, at one point in the book she has to sweep her shack, and everyone laughs at her because she can't sweep. She also can't get use to living in the United States. She doesn't speak English and she doesn't understand what the other girls talk about. Eventually people teach her into getting use to being poor. So I guess this book was called Esperanza Rising because it means she is being reborn from being rich to losing everything. I like this book because it teaches you the changes that Esperanza goes through.
