Riding Freedom

When civilization began, the rights of women plummeted. These thoughts of women being inferior to men continued into the United States. Riding Freedom by Pam Muñoz Ryan best illustrates the treatment of women in this male-dominated society. I strongly recommend this book to those who are interested in the progress of women's rights. Riding Freedom is a book about a girl named Charlotte who grew up in Massachusetts. At the beginning of the book when she is a baby, her father, her mother, and her, are going for a ride. There is a big storm which makes her father lose control of the carriage. They end up crashing and Charlotte being the only survivor. She is sent to an orphanage where at first she has a good time. She meets a really nice guy there, his name is Vern. He was the horse keeper at the orphanage. Charlotte would always go there to see the horses and she would race with them too, her favorite horse was Freedom. One day when Charlotte was racing with Freedom, Freedom got sick. The next morning Freedom died. She died because she actually got sick and it had nothing to do with Charlotte but the owner blamed it on her for some reason. The owner said that if it was a boy who was riding it nothing would have happened. Since the owner was being sexist Charlotte decided to sneak out of the orphanage. She succeeds but, since this book takes place while women don't have rights she disguises herself as a boy. Since people think she's a boy she has a better life. She has a job as a carriage driver. But deep inside she misses Vern, Freedom, and her friend whose name was Hayward. If you want to know more you have to read the book. I recommend this book because it teaches you what it was like in the 19th century when women didn't have rights.

When I Feel Happy

Today I will be blogging about what makes me happy. I'm happy when I get on myspace with my friends. I like to hang out with my friends. I like soccer it makes me happy because I grew up playing that sport. Another thing that makes me happy is watching World Wrestling Entertainment. I like all that stuff because it's very fun to do. When I get on myspace, I like that because I can chat with my friends. I like to hang out with my friends because they're very funny and we do a lot of fun stuff. I like soccer because my dad also played soccer when he was younger. When I was little my dad showed me how to play soccer, after that I realy enjoyed the sport. My favorite team is Chivas, whenever they play they make me happy. Especially when Chivas wins the league. I like to watch WWE because I love fights even though they're not real. Also what makes me happy is being green. Because I don't want the world to end in 2012 like they say. I want the world to last a lot more, so I do anything possible to save this planet. The reason I don't want the world to die is because, if the world dies then I do too. Being alive makes me be happier than anything because, if I'm not alive I can't do any of that stuff.

Chivas

I am blogging about my favorite team, Chivas. Chivas is also known as Club Deportivo Guadalajara, which is Spanish for Sports Club of Guadalajara. They are from Guadalajara, Mexico. Their nicknames are Chivas (Goats), Rebano Sagrado (Holy Flock), and Chiverio. Founded on May, 8 1906 they're the 2nd oldest team in Mexico. Their current stadium is Estadio Jalisco, they're future stadium is Estadio Chivas which will probably be ready this month. They're two main rivalries are with Club America and Atlas. With America because they're the two most popular teams in Mexico, and Atlas because they're both from Guadalajara. They're the team in Mexico with the most championships ever with 11 total. They also have a team here in the United States named Chivas USA. Chivas is also known for being the only team in Mexico with all Mexican-born players. That has been their tradition since they ever existed. That is all of my information about my favorite soccer team ever.
