Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez

I'm writing about my idol Javier Hernandez. I really like him because he's very successful playing soccer. Even though he is only 21, he has already scored 26 goals with his team Chivas. He has also scored 4 goals in 4 apperances with the Mexican National Team. Another thing that has happened to him, he has only been playing for 4 years and he will be the first Mexican soccer player to play for Manchester United F.C., one of the best teams in the world.
He is a third-generation soccer player. His maternal grandfather, Tomas Balcazar, was a soccer player for the team Javier plays for now, Chivas. He played for Chivas in the 50's. His father, Javier Hernandez Sr., played for Tecos in the 80's-90's. All of them have participated in one World Cup. Tomas played in the 1954 World Cup, Javier Sr. in 1986, and Javier Jr. will be playing in the upcoming 2010 World Cup.
On April 8, 2010 he signed a deal with Manchester United and he will be the first Mexican player to play for them. He will make his debut on July 30, 2010 he will make his debut against Chivas. Apparently, he will be playing the 1st half with Chivas and the 2nd half with Man U.

A Lion in the White House: Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858. When he was a newborn he suffered from asthma which made him, sort of, his father's favorite. He grew up in a 4-story brownstone in New York City, New York. When he was a child he was at Abraham Lincoln's funeral in 1865 in New York City. As a child his parents had to stay up with him and get his lungs working because back then they didn't have inhalers. So his parents had to come up with some way to get his lungs working. In 1876 Teddy went to Harvard University in Boston. 2 years later his father died. It was a big blow for him, but he redoubled his activities. In 1898, in the Spanish-American War, Roosevelt led his Rough Riders to capturing San Juan Hill and Kettle Hill on July 1 ,1898. After the Spanish-American War Roosevelt left the army and was elected governor of New York. In 1900 William McKinley chose him as his running mate for the 1900 National Election, which they won. So in 1901 he became Vice-President of the United States. However, a few months later, President McKinley was shot and he died. So Theodore Roosevelt, on September 14, 1901, became the youngest President of the United States at age 42. In 1904 Teddy ran for another term in office. He won again so now another 4 years in the White House. He decide not to run again in 1908. But in 1912 he ran for President again against Woodrow Wilson. Unfortunately, he lost. While campaigning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin he was shot by a saloon keeper named John Schrank, but he didn't die. On January 6, 1919 he died in his sleep, most likely because of a heart attack, in Oyster Bay, New York. He is currently buried in Youngs Memorial Cemetery.

EARTH DAY '10

I've learned many, many things about Earth day. First of all I've learned that 4-22 is a day that we should dedicate to our planet. This is the place where we live and the only place where we can live. So for that we have to take care of it. We shouldn't cause any kind of pollution, do not cause anything harmful. We are all in this together and April 22nd isn't the only day we should take care of the planet it should be every day. Here are some things I do to save the planet. Every time I write something on a piece of paper I use both sides to reduce it. Whenever we come from the groceries we fold the plastic bags, and whenever needed, we reuse them. And I recycle newspapers, paper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, boxes etc. Here at school I compost my paper lunch bag, apple scraps, orange peels etc. Also at school I sold 8 shirts which means I raised $112 to save .8 acres of the raniforest. I love to help the earth because I don't want it to die out in 2012. And we can't do ourselves everybody has to join in to save it.

☺What Makes Me Smile☺

I like to smile whenever good things happen. For example, whenever my favorite team wins or become the champions, I like to smile. Whenever I go to the Internet I like to go to YouTube and watch some funny videos and I like to smile and laugh. Every time I get home from school I put a huge smile on my face because I'm finally home and school is over. When school is over I get so happy that I don't have to go to school for almost 2 months, and it's the same thing for Spring Break and Christmas Break. I just love to smile because it means that good things are happening. There's nothing to be upset about and no reason to be down. Another thing that makes me smile is going to Mexico because I get to see all of my cousins and uncles. I love to smile when I play video games on the computer, on my PSP, or on my PlayStation. Whenever Mexico plays soccer against USA I like to smile because it's the best game to watch in North America and especially when Mexico wins I like to smile.

SPRING THRILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Spring comes up I get so excited. It's my favorite season because it's not too hot and not too cold it's just perfect. It also looks beautiful, finally the leaves are green and the flowers are blooming. Another thing that I love about spring is that it's the school year is coming closer to an end. Here are how I use the 5 senses during spring. I can see the beautiful sight out the window, I can smell the scented flowers, I can feel the blooming plants, I can taste the fruits and vegetables that have grown, and I can hear the birds chirping in the morning. Spring is the only season where I actually feel like going outside. Summer is too hot, Fall there's too many leaves and I don't like how it looks outside, and Winter it's too cold. My favorite holiday in the Spring is Easter because I can hit people with cascarones and I go to church and see a reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I love doing that and that's why it's my favorite holiday. Well, that's how I feel about the wonderful Spring.

A Time I Was Special

One time I felt special was when my math teacher nominated me for a Lone Star State Scholar. The letter she gave me the envelope said "One of Texas' Finest and Brightest". That's what mainly made me feel special because I was one of Texas' smartest kids. It made me feel really smart and so proud of myself for my hard work. This will help me in the future because I will fell encouraged to prove that I deserved this. I'm glad that my teacher nominated me for this because I can brag about this to my friends. But I'm also glad because I can show the entire state how smart I am and what I did to deserve this award. As an award if I win I will be driven to Dallas to see the Texas Rangers versus the Los Angeles Angels and before the game there will be a salute to the scholars. That's where we will go to the field and we will be honored with a ceremony. To win I have to submit an application, which I already did, and I have to check all the activities and awards I've participated in. After that I get a responce in June if I won or not. I really hope I do because that will mean that I am one of Texas' smartest kids.

Essay

My essay is about my goals. My goals are first to do better in History this semester. Last semester my grade in Social Studies was not exactly what I wanted. So now I will try my best to improve it. My next goal is to pass the TAKS test in April. I want to pass it to go to 7th grade next yeat. But to pass it I must work hard in all my classes and be ready for April. Next my 3rd an last, and biggest of all my goals is to graduate. That I know will be the hardest. I'm going to have to wait 6 years for it but it's worth it. To accomplish that, I will have to work very, very, very, very extremely hard. But as soon as I go to high school I'm going to work as hard as I can to go to college. But still I'm positively sure that I will go to college. Well those are my goals that I have to improve my academic skills. And I really hope that this essay will also help me to achieve my goals. I'm not hoping, I know that I will achieve my 3 goals. But I have to work extremely hard to achieve them. I know it's going not going to be easy but I'll find a way to achieve my 3 goals. That was my essay, I hope you liked it.
